I've got the bug.....

Once the first little wisp of cooler air hits each September, I'm overcome with the redecorating bug.  I'm not talking a little rearranging either!  Its a full on repaint every wall in the house, repaint all the floors, out with the old, in with the new, move everything around in the house kind of bug.  Thankfully, a hectic life keeps things down to a minimum.

The best and most challenging part of being struck by the redecorating bug is, due to a very limited budget, I've got to be resourceful and willing to get my hands dirty.  This year, I'm also feeling very crafty.  Here's a few of the ideas I have planned for this Fall (with a little help from my Pinterest boards):

This is so awesome!  I have hard wood floors throughout most of my house but they are all painted boring off-white.  Why didn't I think of this?  I'm going to try it out in the living room first.

I think one of these would look awesome on my back porch.   Plus, I happen to have an old washtub....

This is too cute!  What a neat way to write little messages.  I think I have an old globe of Elijah's that I can use for this project.  If not, these are easily found (and cheap) at garage sales.

I think I need one of these for my studio.  Especially love the bright turquoise color! I don't have a larger frame like this, but I see them all the time at garage sales, Goodwill and thrift stores.

And yes, I do have plans to repaint almost every wall in my house too!  I've got big plans to pick up paint chips this weekend.  This year I'll try to be brave enough to share pictures.

Color Inspiration

It's crazy-busy around our house.  E is back in school and football season is in full swing.  Since E is in the marching band, this means I'm required to sit through all the games...waiting...impatiently...for half-time so I can watch E march.  Yes, its quite obvious that I am not a lover of football.  I don't hate it, but I could definitely live without it.  The worst part (right now) is the heat!  Nothing is worse than sweating in the stands while being squished between the other parents and teenagers.  Ugh!

Happily, the first "cold front" of the season rolled through late Saturday night and the temperatures have dropped to low 80's during the day to high 60's-low 70's at night....HALLELUJAH!  This is a vast improvement over the 101 degrees on Thursday.

As happens every year, the first hint of cool air has me dreaming of Fall.  I've already begun moving toward a more Fall inspired palette in the studio with olive greens, rust and brick reds, ochre yellows .  But, then I saw this photo....

and now I think I must add some new colors to the Fall mix!  Plus this makes me seriously want to redecorate my dining room.  I love the worn elegance and gypsy vibe too.  My mind is already reeling with the possibilities - turquoise, smoky quartz, rhodocrosite (peachy pink), scapolite (cream), bronze freshwater pearls, andalustie (reddish brown/olive greens), pink coral, maybe a hint of peacock teal quartz.  I've got to come up with something for the rosy pinks though......must be time to shop for gemstones!
